We arrived in Tuscaloosa around 10am and parked at a K-Mart to take the shuttle to the Tuscaloosa airport where the air show was happening. The shuttle was free and the line moved quickly. The airshow was really reasonable ($10 tickets at the gate) and had a huge turnout. The only downside to the day was the COLD! We walked around the static displays and then met up with friends to watch the show. I got to walk through an Osprey and was shocked by just how big they are in person!
The T-45 (the jet Rob flies here in Meridian) was one of the planes in the static displays. It was actually really cool because my friend Rachel's boyfriend actually got to fly the T-45 to the airshow and then show people the plane. Even cooler than that, he had dinner at a big reception with the Blue Angels the night before and long story short was able to fly in Fat Albert during the airshow! So cool!
I am convinced that nothing beats watching an airshow with a bunch of flight students. They are seriously like big kids when it comes to planes and their giddy energy is contagious! It was so fun to see how excited they all got watching the F-22 or the Blue Angels buzz overhead. It's hard to believe that one of them could actually be a Blue Angel one day! You never know :)

While the airshow was great, it's official: nothing beats the Blue Angels Homecoming air show on Pensacola Beach!
How fun!! We are going to see the Thunderbirds (for what seems like the millionth time, haha) in June! I don't like flying, but I love air shows! :)
ReplyDeleteI love air shows too! I don't think I've ever seen the Thunderbirds but I'll have to see if they come anywhere close to us :)
DeleteI love air shows. The Thunderbirds normally perform at the Maxwell AFB show in Montgomery.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check that out Lisa! I was just saying I needed to see if the Thunderbirds perform anywhere nearby!
DeleteSo fun!!!! :) My brother was on the Thunderbirds for 7 years and it was so cool to watch them do their demonstrations.
ReplyDeleteNo way Jen!! That's AMAZING! I bet he has so many cool stories from his time as a Thunderbird!
DeleteIt's so weird now that my heart pitter patters when i hear someone mention an Osprey since that's what Brendon flies on. It's like an instant connection to me, even if they're only talking about seeing one. I'm SUPER weird. lol! This looks like so much fun and such a great weekend! I LOVE the Blue Angels! So Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love air shows! We're currently stationed at a Marine Corps air station so of course they do an air show every year. My husband is a police officer so unfortunately he had to work last year's event. He felt bad so he got my friends and I VIP parking and someone to drive us around in a golf cart all weekend haha It was a pretty cool show!
